We are pleased to announce that submissions are now open for the 17th Annual Meeting of the Illinois Language and Linguistics Society (ILLS17), which will be held from March 7-8, 2025 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. ILLS is an annual graduate student-run conference aimed primarily at providing graduate and advanced undergraduate students a friendly venue in which they can present and discuss research on any topic related to language and linguistics. ILLS17 will feature plenary talks from Dr. Peter Lasersohn (UIUC), Dr. Jennifer Sclafani (UMass Boston), and Dr. Silvia Perez-Cortes (Rutgers).  Additionally, the 6th Annual Sociolinguistics Symposium (SOSY) will again be held in conjunction with ILLS this year, celebrating a quarter-century of sociolinguistic innovation and inquiry.

ILLS is a general linguistics conference open to any and all submissions relating to language and linguistics. The conference theme for ILLS17 is “Dialogues for Change: Intersections of Language, Learning, and Society”. Submissions related to this theme are especially encouraged, though submissions are not limited to this theme. We primarily encourage submissions from graduate and undergraduate students. We hold that an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and a collaborative approach to language from a multitude of avenues is fundamental to the advancement of language research and the subsequent understanding of our world, cultures, and societies.

Abstracts can be submitted on Easy Abs.  Submissions are open until January 25th.
