Thank you for your interest in becoming a visiting scholar in the Department of Linguistics at UIUC.
To apply, please send an email to linguistics@illinois.edu. In the body of the email, please state that you are applying as a visiting scholar. Include two documents as attachments to the email: (1) a current c.v. with your full contact information internal in the document, and (2) a detailed statement of your research interests and goals for your proposed visit to UIUC. The second document should also tell us the dates that you would like to visit, which can be approximate. Please do not send anything else. Your attachments should be in one of the following formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, or RTF. It is OK if the two documents are in different formats Please do not send attachments in any other formats than those listed above. Also, do not send compressed files such as .RAR or .ZIP.
You will receive an email that acknowledges your application and that indicates that it is being reviewed. Our faculty will then review your application. Typically, you will receive a response in about four to six weeks.
If you are accepted as a visiting scholar, further instructions will be sent to you. For successful applicants, the Department of Linguistics charges a fee for your visit: $1500 per academic semester or $3000 per academic year.

Note: The Department of Linguistics accepts applications for visiting scholars only between September 1st and April 15th of each academic year. Please apply only between the 1st of September and the 15th of April.
