Ping-Lin Chuang, graduate student in the Linguistics department, has been selected as a recipient of the 2022 Duolingo English Test Doctoral Dissertation Award, for her dissertation titled “What makes an argument effective? Triangulating task characteristics, essay performances, and rating processes in an L2 integrated argumentative writing test".
In addition, after a competitive application process, Ping-Lin was selected as a student editorial board member for the Journal of Second Language Writing. JSLW is the premier journal in the field of second language writing and a top tier journal in Applied Linguistics. As a student EB member, Ping-Lin will review manuscripts, participate in the annual editorial board meeting, vote for the best article published in the journal, and assist the editors in evaluating special issue proposals.
